Joseph McDonnell, founder and principal of Great Journey West, is a retired Air Force Officer (Lieutenant Colonel) originally from St. Charles, MO. As a former Pentagon Branch Chief, Joe worked with Air Force Logistics Centers, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Congress. He managed the B-52 aircraft upgrade investment portfolio valued at $700M and has a unique understanding of the Federal Government's Budgeting and Acquisition System. Prior to his Air Force career during college breaks, Joe worked in the office and home furniture industry assisting the family business with sales, inventory management, installations, deliveries, and service calls.
As a former “insider”, Joe speaks the Government’s language, understands the corporate culture, and knows how the money flows. Through sound management and financial principles and astute attention to detail, Great Journey West assesses and evaluates every project with a methodical and deliberate approach. Since 2010, Great Journey West has primarily teamed with other small businesses to pursue government contracts throughout the Contiguous United States, Alaska, and overseas.
